Ok! Lets start with the flagship team!

Absolutely Amazing!  Atlanta Boom has started out the New Year with a bang!  Let's start at the top and you will clearly see that Atlanta Boom has no bottom!

18 Diamond – The flagship team of the club went into the Southern Draw Tournament and showed up and showed out.  They began by ABSOULUTELY DOMINATING GA5 18-1 & went on to be undefeated on day one, in totally dominant fashion. That type of blazing play continued on day two for the 18 Lady Diamonds as well!  With amazingly powerful & calmly consistent play coupled with great coaching, the 18 Diamond hammered their way into the to the FINALS OF THE GOLD BRACKET before falling just short of capturing it all.  In week two with great momentum, the 18 Lady Diamonds traveled to Franklin, TN to compete in one of the toughest tournaments this season.  As you might expect, the team continued in stride, finishing tied for 5th, before falling in the play-offs to the eventual tournament champions. The 18 Diamond have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with.  Keep working ladies – The hopes & strength of the club are with you!

18 Orange –
The season starts out great for the 18 Orange.  In their first tournament of the season, one player was offered a scholarship!  Now that is how you make your hard work pay off.  With great anticipation from competing during the first tournament, the 18 Orange headed to the Heart of Dixie tournament to strut their stuff.  The team finished in the Semi Finals of the 18 Club Division & each player worked hard to gel as a team and competed in every match.  The highlight plays of the weekend were when Devotion Watson hit a ball on the 10 FOOT LINE  & Leslie Gibb crushed the game winning blow down the line to send the team into the Semi-Finals! BOOM!!!!  Ladies, we are so proud of how hard you are working.  Keep it up.

17 Diamond
-. Our #2 team started out rocky on week one but instantly recovered in week two. The 17 Lady Diamond obliterated TCA along with all comers on day one to come out undefeated and in first place on day one. Moving up to become the #3 seed in the tourney led them into the semi-finals before they ended their run. Outstanding ladies.

16 Diamond –
You know expectations run high when you are being coached by the Coaching Director.  Del and his coaching staff took the 16 Lady Diamonds to compete in the Southern Draw – 18 Power Division.  Yes, you read it right – the 18 Power Division!  The team went without a winning a single match, however they competed with every team and took 5 of the 7 opponents to 3 losing by no greater a margin than 3 points.  Bruised but uninjured, this seemed to give momentum to the girls when they headed to neighboring state, Alabama to participate in the Heart of Dixie tournament & compete in their own age division.  16s watch out!  The 16 Lady Diamond battled their way into the finals & demolished anyone who tried to stand in their way.  They were on a mission to show everyone that they were anything but losers and here to stay.  Well ladies – goal accomplished!  The 16 Lady Diamond finished as TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!   Now that is what you call a 180 degree turnaround.  Way to continue believing in yourselves ladies.  You have made us proud!

16 Orange –
In their first tourney the 16 Orange qualifiy for the playoffs and make it to the quarter finals… Fresh back from Italy and the USA National team tryouts Head coach Tree was very pleased with the first effort but not satisfied with the result. We know they will be back stronger than ever in their next tournament.
16 Black – With great expectation, the 16 Black headed to Chattanooga to compete in their first tournament.  The team played their hearts out by having some of the longest rallies of the tournament against their competition.  That showed their unwillingness to give up and their tenacity to compete for every point.  With great support from their coaching staff, the 16 black proceeded to advance all the way to the GOLD DIVISION FINALS before losing.  Awesome job Coach Amir and Coach Janique!  You are doing a great job.  Team – this is how you start your season!

15 Diamond –
Well, the 15 Lady Diamond borrowed some ambition from the 16 Lady Diamond and competed in Southern Draw tournament in the 16 Power division.  With the first ever 15 Diamond team in Atlanta Boom history, the team wanted to make head coach April Carroll proud.  With each match, the girls gained confidence and began  to believe that they could compete.  By the end of the tournament, the team had a captured a 5th place finish in the 16Power Division. The team traveled from there on to the Heart of Dixie tournament where they would compete in their own age bracket of 15 Power. Not to be outdone by anyone, the team went undefeated on day one and caught stage fright in the finals, as they proceeded to lose in the FINALS OF THE GOLD DIVISION.  A single loss again keeps us just shy of the top of the podium. Ugh! Keep your heads up high ladies. You did well.  You are showing everyone that the 15 Diamond belong as well.

15 Orange – The 15 Orange panned out at 3-5 for the day with the scores that belied the fight on the floor. Although our 15 yr old heroines finished with a record short of playoff caliber, they competed in every single match and look forward to the next tournament. The 15’s were the 1st team to debut Boom’s new look. Looking good ladies.

14 Orange –
Coached by the Club Director herself, you know the 14 Orange were going to be rocking with cheers and with their play.  In their first tournament in Chattanooga, the girls played from 8am until nearly 10pm.  The parents encouraged the team the entire day and that was the push that the girls needed to propel them into TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!!!  But the girls were not finished.  They headed to the Heart of Dixie tournament and challenged everyone in day one to come out undefeated.  This momentum carried over into day two when they lost a close match in the third game during the SEMI-FINALS OF THE GOLD DIVISION.  Very proud ladies!  You are doing your thing!

13 Orange – Begin this weekend!

12 Orange – CHAMPIONS! CHAMPIONS! CHAMPIONS!!
Our youngest age group worked diligently over the last month learning the game and perfecting their skills.  With expected nervousness, the girls battled in every match to only come out victorious for the day.  In their first tournament of the season, the 12 Orange WON THEIR TOURNAMENT!!!!  Nothing more can be said besides our hearts smile when we see your hard work and dedication.  You are the future of Boom – keep it up!  Very proud!

A special thanks goes out to the parents of Atlanta Boom.  You are the special inspiration that propels each team to success.  Without you, there would be no us.  After looking at the results of January, it is clear that Atlanta Boom is strong from top to bottom and it definitely makes one say – this is why we committed to Atlanta Boom!
